Nigerian Finance Minister: ENABLE Youth should be rolled out

The Nigerian Minister of Finance, Honorable Kemi Adeosun, visited IITA on 10 June to look at the IITA Agripreneurs Program (IYA) and learn more about the African Development Bank-funded ENABLE Youth (Empowering Novel Agri-Business-Led Employment) Program.

Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture urges youth to prop agriculture

Chief Audu Ogbeh, Nigeria’s Honorable Minister of Agriculture (HMA), has urged the IITA Youth Agripreneurs in the IITA-Onne station to produce large volumes of improved suckers, pledging government’s commitment to procure the inputs.

Nigeria Youth Parliament visit IITA

On 20 April, Rt. Hon Ayodele Obe, the newly elected Speaker of the Nigerian youth parliament (NYP) led youth delegates from Ondo, Katsina, Imo, Oyo, Kwara, Lagos, and Ogun states to IITA-Ibadan to kick-start collaboration with the IITA Youth Agripreneurs (IYA).

MSU and The MasterCard Foundation partner to increase youth employment in Africa

A five-year, $13 million collaboration between Michigan State University and The MasterCard Foundation will help 15,000 young people access employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in the fast-growing horticulture, aquaculture, poultry, cassava, and oilseed sectors in Tanzania and Nigeria.

ATASP-1 completes first batch of seed production training for youth

Following the flag-off of the seed production training for youth by Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh on 27 March, ATASP-1 has commenced training young people on seed production. The training which ran concurrently in Abuja, and Kano and Niger states ended on 5 April.

Agripreneurs undergo training on business startups

To further enhance the skills of IITA Youth Agripreneurs (IYA) in developing bankable business plans and in securing business start-up funds from financial institutions, Ekimiks Nigeria Limited in partnership with IITA, organized an 8-day workshop for Agripreneurs in Ibadan on 15-24 February.
